About Rio Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand is an English former professional soccer player, widely regarded as one of the greatest center-backs of his generation. Born in London and raised in Peckham, he began his career at West Ham United, making his debut in 1996. He moved to Leeds United in 2000 for a then-record £18 million, before joining Manchester United in 2002 for around £30 million, the highest fee for a British player and defender at the time. At United, Ferdinand won six Premier League titles, the 2008 UEFA Champions League, and multiple domestic cups over 12 seasons and 455 appearances. He earned 81 caps for England from 1997 to 2011, featuring in three World Cups. After retiring in 2015 following a stint at Queens Park Rangers, he became a prominent pundit for TNT Sports and hosts the popular YouTube channel “Rio Ferdinand Presents.”
