About Rebecca Soni
Rebecca Soni is a former competition swimmer. The six time gold medalist in the Olympic Games is the first woman to swim the entire 200 meter breaststroke in under 2 minutes and 20 seconds. Soni is also the former world record holder in the 100 meter breaststroke and the 200 meter breaststroke events. In her career she has won a total of 22 medals in major competitions including one bronze, seven silver, and fourteen gold. Rebecca burst onto the scene when she wowed the world in the 2008 Summer Olympics where she won a gold and two silver medals for team USA. After the 2012 Olympic Games where she once again had success, winning two gold medals and one silver medal, she took a year away from the sport to recover from a back injury and has since returned in 2013 as a spectator at the World Aquatics Championships.
