About Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal, more commonly referred to as “Rafa”, is one of the greatest tennis players ever. Nadal most notably dominated on clay courts player of his time, earning the nickname, “The King of Clay”. He won 14 of his 22 career Grand Slam titles on clay at the French Open.
Nadal finished as the top layer in the world five times and spent a total of 209 as the number one ranked player in men's singles. He was the youngest player to ever capture the career Grand Slam at the age of 24.
Nadal reached number one for the first time in 2008 after defeating rival Roger Federer at Wimbledon. He followed that historic victory up with an Olympic gold medal that summer.
Nadal was born in the Balearic Islands in Spain in 1986. His impressive tennis career commenced at a very young age. By eight, he had already won an under-12 regional tennis championship.
