Phil Simms

Current broadcaster and Super Bowl champ with the New York Giants, Phil Simms is a former quarterback for the National Football League, playing all through the ‘80’s and early ‘90’s. Simms can be remembered representing number 11 for the New York Giants, as he played the entirety of his fourteen-season professional career as a Giant. As a Kentucky native born in 1954, Simms went on to pursue a collegiate football career at Morehead State University in Kentucky. He finished his career as an Eagle with 409 completions in 835 attempts while setting the school record with 5,545 yards. Simms was then selected as the seventh overall pick in the 1979 NFL Draft by the Giants. Throughout his professional career, he was a two-time Super Bowl Champion, even becoming the Super Bowl XXI Most Valuable Player. In addition, Simms was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and Pro Bowl MVP in 1985. He also became a member of the New York Giants Ring of Honor and retired number 11 for the Giants. Retiring in 1993 with outstanding statistics of over 33,000 passing yards and 2,500 pass completions, Simms certainly left his mark on the NFL. While he couldn’t remove himself from the game completely, he currently serves as an NFL broadcaster.
