About Paul Azinger
Paul Azinger is a former professional golfer, golfing mainly on the PGA Tour. Before turning professional, Azinger attended Florida State University to play on their golf team. In 1981, Azinger turned professional, competing in various tours including the European tour, until joining the PGA Tour in 1997. Azinger would go on to win twelve tournaments in his PGA Tour career, with his only Major Championship coming in the 1993 PGA Championship. In December 1993, Azinger was diagnosed with lymphoma in his shoulder, resulting in chemotherapy that lasted over six months. He returned to golf in 1994, but did not win an event until 2000, getting the Comeback Player of the Year award. Azinger served as the United States captain in the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla Golf Club, leading the team to its first victory over the Europeans since 1999. Azinger’s last activity in gold was in 2010 when he competed on the Champions Tour, but has not competed since that year. He now participates in poker tournaments as well as writing about his life.
