Two-time All-Star Michael Cuddyer was one of the most talented hitters in the game. The first 11 seasons of his career were spent with the Minnesota Twins. Cuddyer then signed with the Colorado Rockies and won the National League batting title in 2013. That season he also picked up his first Silver Slugger Award. Cuddyer finished his career playing for New York Mets in 2015. The Twins originally selected him ninth overall in the 1997 MLB Draft. Upon his start in the Minnesota minor league system, he was regularly considered one of baseball’s top prospects. Cuddyer is part of a recent flow of talent to the big leagues from the Virginia Beach region. He went to Great Bridge High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, a school future All-Star Justin Upton would also go to years later. Cuddyer was the National Gatorade Player of the Year and on the U.S. Junior National Team in 1997.
