Matt Harrison

Matt Harrison is the starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball. While in high school, Harrison signed a letter of intent to play baseball at North Carolina State University, but the Atlanta Braves drafted him in the third round of the 2003 MLB Draft, and he ultimately signed a professional contract. Harrison spent the 2003 season in the minor leagues with the Gulf Coast Braves. In 2004, he played for the Danville Braves. He also played for the Rome Braves, Myrtle Beach Pelicans, and Mississippi Braves. On July 30, 2007, the Braves traded Harrison to the Texas Rangers. Harrison missed his first season with the Rangers due to shoulder inflammation. At the beginning of the 2008 season, Harrison was assigned to the Frisco RoughRiders. Harrison was called up to the Rangers on July 8, 2008 when he made his debut with the Rangers. In 2012, Harrison was named an All-Star selection. On June 3, 2014, Harrison underwent lumbar spinal disc fusion surgery, which ended his 2014 season.
