About Matt Forte
Matt Forte was a two-time Pro Bowl selection and one of the toughest running backs of his era. Forte grew up in Slidell, Louisiana where he was a letterman in football and track & field in high school. During his senior year, Forte was named the St. Tammy Parish Player of the Year, District 5-5A Offensive MVP and he received All-Metro accolades. Forte attended the University of Tulane where he played football for three years. Forte’s junior season at Tulane was cut short when he suffered an injury against Marshall University. Forte participated in the 2008 Senior Bowl where he was named the Overall MVP. After college, the Chicago Bears selected Forte in the 2nd round as the 44th overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Forte made his debut with the Bears on September 7, 2008 against the Indianapolis Colts. Forte became the first rookie running back to rush for over 1,000 yards in his rookie season since 2001. In week 12 of the 2008 season, Forte was named the Diet Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week. He was also named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, and PFWA All-NFC Team.
