Matt Cassel

Matt Cassel is a professional quarterback in the NFL. Growing up in California, Cassel experienced an earthquake when he was 11 years old that trapped his father under a marble column and eventually condemned his home. While in high school, Cassel played baseball and football. Before beginning his senior year of high school, Cassel committed to play at USC. Cassel was the backup quarterback to Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart his entire career at USC. In 2003, Cassel’s position was changed to tight end and wide receiver. In 2004, Cassel played his only season of baseball for USC. The Oakland Athletics selected Cassel in the 36th round of the 2004 MLB Draft. The New England Patriots signed Cassel as an undrafted free agent in 2005. On February 28, 2009, the Patriots traded Cassel to the Kansas City Chiefs and on March 13, 2013, Cassel was traded to the Minnesota Vikings. In 2010, Cassel was named to the Pro Bowl and in 2007 He was the AFC Champion along with the Patriots.
