About Mats Sundin
Mats Sundin was born on February 13, 1971 in Bromma, Sweden. Growing up, Sundin played ice hockey and he continued to play as his professional career. Sundin played for the Nacka HK and Djurgardens IF before the Quebec Nordiques selected him as the first overall pick in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. With the Nordiques pick, Sundin became the first European-born player to be drafted first overall in NHL history. Sundin made his debut with the Nordiques during the 1990-91 season. In 1994, Sundin was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also played for the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL. Sundin competed in the World Championships with Sweden and together they won three gold medals and they won a gold medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics. In June 2012, Sundin was elected into the Hockey Hall of Fame and in 2013, he was inducted into the IIHF Hall of Fame.
