About Mark DeRosa
Mark DeRosa is a former Major League Baseball (MLB) utility player, MLB Network broadcaster, and current Team USA Manager for the World Baseball Classic. A New Jersey native, he excelled in both baseball and football, earning all-state honors. He went on to play both at the University of Pennsylvania and studied at the Wharton School of Business. Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 1996, he made his MLB debut in 1998. Over 16 seasons (1998–2013), he played for eight teams, including the Braves, Texas Rangers, Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Washington Nationals, and the Toronto Blue Jays. A versatile defender who started at every position except center field, pitcher, and catcher, he batted .268 with 100 home runs and 494 runs batted in 1,241 games. After retiring, DeRosa joined MLB Network as a studio analyst, co-hosting shows such as “MLB Central.” He led Team USA to a runner-up finish at the 2023 World Baseball Classic and returned for the 2026 tournament in hopes of capturing the United States' second title since their 2017 run.
