About Levon Kirkland
Levon Kirkland played ten seasons in the National Football League with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Seattle Seahawks and Philadelphia Eagles from 1992 to 2002. He joined the Steelers in 1992 as a second round selection out of Clemson University, where he earned consensus All-American honors in 1991. During his NFL career he earned consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl in 1996 and 1997 and also earned back-to-back NFL All-Pro nods. In 1997 he was named the NFL Alumni Linebacker of the Year, and was named the Pittsburgh Steelers Team MVP in both 1998 and 1999. His stellar play helped the Steelers to an AFC Championship in 2005 and an appearance in Super Bowl XXX. Kirkland retired in 2002 with 1,029 career tackles, 19.5 sacks, 11 interceptions and four career forced fumbles. In honor of career accomplishments he was named to the NFL 1990’s All-Decade Team. After his retirement he returned to Clemson University and earned his degree in sociology in 2004. In 2008 he was inducted into the South Carolina Athletic Hall of Fame.
