Lesley Visser

Lesley Visser was the first female NFL analyst in television history and is the only sportscaster in history to cover the Final Four, NBA Finals, World Series, Triple Crown, Monday Night Football, the Olympics, the World Figure Skating Championships and the U.S. Open. During her legendary broadcasting career she was named the No. 1 Female Sportscaster of all-time by the American Sportscasters Association and was recognized by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2006 as the recipient of the Pete Rozelle Radio-Television Award. Visser’s career began at the Boston Globe in 1974 after earning her degree in English from Boston College. In 1976 she was assigned to cover the New England Patriots, making her the first female beat writer for an NFL team. During her career at the Globe she covered a wide variety of sports, and eventually landed a job at CBS Sports in 1983. In 1987 she signed on full-time at CBS and began covering every major sport the nation had to offer. In 1993 she moved to ABC Sports and ESPN and continued to build her resume as one of the greatest broadcasters ever. She returned to CBS Sports in 2007 and now writes a column for CBSSports.com. Visser is a recipient of the Women’s Sports Foundation Award for journalism, has been named WISE Woman of the Year and Outstanding Women’s Sportswriter in America, and earned induction into the NSSA – National Sportscasters-Sportswriters Hall of Fame in 2015.
