About Larry Robinson
Larry Robinson is a former ice hockey player and coach in the National Football League. The Montreal Canadiens drafted Robinson as the 20th overall pick in the 1971 NHL Draft. Robinson played 17 seasons for the Canadiens where he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy twice as the league’s most outstanding defenseman and he won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the Most Valuable Player of the 1978 playoffs. Robinson was a dominant player that helped the Canadiens win six Stanley Cups. He was also a member of Team Canada in the 1976, 1981, and 1984 Canada Cup tournaments. Robinson spent his last three years of playing with the Los Angeles Kings and he retired in 1992. In 1995, Robinson was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. After retirement, Robinson was hired as the assistant coach of the New Jersey Devils. After winning the Stanley Cup with the Devils in 1995, Robinson was hired as the head coach of the Los Angeles Kings. On July 10, 2012, Robinson was named the associate coach of the San Jose Sharks.
