Larry Fitzgerald

Larry Fitzgerald is a Minneapolis, Minnesota native and grew up with the dream of playing at football’s most elite level. When he stepped on the University of Pittsburgh campus in 2001 he took a giant leap towards achieving that dream. While at Pittsburgh he’d make a name for himself as not only the best wide receiver in the country, but also as one of the best athletes. After earning All-American honors and finishing as the runner-up in the 2003 Heisman Trophy race he was selected with the 3rd overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, thus making his dream a reality. When the Cardinals made Fitzgerald their top overall pick they saw him as a franchise player, and he’s embraced that role. Since 2005 he’s earned eight Pro Bowl selections and shattered Cardinals franchise career records for receiving yards, yards from scrimmage, receiving touchdowns, and receptions. Along with his role on the field, Fitzgerald has also embraced his role as a leader in the community, establishing the Larry Fitzgerald First Down Fund to help kids and their families by funding positive activities for kids throughout the year, and Carol Fitzgerald Memorial Fund in honor of his mother who passed away from breast caner in 2003. For his contributions to the betterment of the community he’s been honored numerous times, including being selected as the 2014 Henry P. Iba Citizen Athlete Male Recipient.
