About LaDainian Tomlinson
LaDainian Tomlinson is a former professional football player who played running back in the NFL. Tomlinson accepted an athletic scholarship to Texas Christian University where he played football from 1997-2000. During the 1998 season, Tomlinson helped the Horned Frogs to their first bowl win in 41 years at the Sun Bowl. During his junior year, he set an NCAA FBS record for most rushing yards in a game with 406. This record stood until 2014, when Melvin Gordon rushed for 408 yards and Samaje Perine broke Gordon’s with 427 yards. As a senior, Tomlinson won the Doak Walter Award and he was a finalist for the Heisman. TCU retired Tomlinson’s number and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame on December 9, 2014. Tomlinson was selected as the fifth overall draft pick by the San Diego Chargers in the 2001 NFL Draft. Tomlinson immediately became the starting running back for the Chargers. In 2003, he became the first NFL player to rush for 1,000 yards and record 100 receptions in the same season. He was elected to the Pro Bowl team in 2002, 2004-06. Tomlinson signed with the Jets in 2010. Tomlinson retired as a Charger in 2012 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2017.
