About Kia Nurse
Kia Nurse is a star in the WNBA and for the Canadian National Team. Kia has been in the WNBA since she was the 10th overall pick of the New York Liberty in the 2018 Draft. Nurse was named an All-Star in her second season. She joined the Phoenix Mercury after three years in New York and subsequently the Seattle Storm.
On the national team side, Nurse has long been part of the Canadian senior-level program. She represented her country at the 2020 Olympics.
Nurse was previously a college standout at UConn, where she won back-to-back National Championships in 2015-16. She was also the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in her final season, 2018.
Nurse comes from a family stocked with athletes, most notably her father, Richard, who played in the CFL, and brother, Darnell, who plays in the NHL. She is also the niece of former NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb and a cousin of Canadian national hockey player, Sarah Nurse.
