About Kevin Dineen
Kevin Dineen is a current assistant coach for the Chicago Blackhawks who has had a varied career in hockey. Dineen most recently finished a two-year run as the head coach of the Canadian women’s hockey team. The squad captured their fourth straight Olympic gold medal in 2014. He also had some success as the head coach of the Florida Panthers, helping the franchise to their first playoff appearance in 12 years and first-ever Southeast Division title in 2012. Dineen entered the coaching ranks as the head coach of the AHL’s Portland Pirates and the team went to the playoffs in five of his six seasons. He also had an incredibly successful 19 year playing career. Dineen was a two-time All-Star for the franchise he spent the longest time with, the Hartford Whalers. He was most likely influenced to pursue a coaching career by his father Bill, who coached him with the Philadelphia Flyers.
