About Katie Zaferes
Katie Zaferes overcame personal tragedy to reach her Olympic dream. Zaferes lost her father just three months prior to winning an Olympic bronze medal in triathlon at the Tokyo Games. She says her dad's spirit guides her daily and she even saw a rainbow during her medal-winning race that reminded her of his presence. Zaferes also became just the third American woman to medal in the event. Prior to the Olympic stage, she won three medals at the World Championships.
