About Jose Abreu
When someone talks about the best power hitters in the game, Jose Abreu’s name is undoubtedly on the short list. The Cuban import his 36 home runs in his rookie season for the Chicago White Sox. He was unanimously voted as the 2014 American League Rookie of the Year. Abreu was the AL Player of the Month in both April and July and made the All-Star team. Prior to defecting, he played in Cuba’s Serie Nacional for Cienfuegos. During the 2010-11 season, he won the league MVP award and set the single-season home run record. Abreu played in a variety of international competitions for Cuba too, including the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Jumping to the major leagues at just the right time, expect him to be a star for years to come.
