About Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan is known as the Orient Express, and has won an astonishing 10 World Series of Poker Bracelets. He was born in Hong Kong, and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1968 with his family. At the age of 16 he was introduced to Los Vegas and would later drop out of the University of Houston to pursue a career as a professional gambler. In 1985 he won his first World Series of Poker bracelet in the $1,000 Limit Hold’em event. He went on to win back-to-back titles in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship in 1987 and 1988, which grossed him over $1.3 million in earnings. He’s since earned seven more World Series of Poker bracelets from 1994 to 2005, and grossed over $8.6 million in live poker earnings, with $4.35 million of that coming in WSOP events. During his career he has released several instructional poker manuals, and launched his own online poker room called ChanPokerOnline.com.
