About John Hollinger
John Hollinger has the Vice President of Basketball for the Memphis Grizzlies since 2012. The Grizzlies have not missed the playoffs under his tenure. He has helped Memphis transition from an older team to one with a bright future under popular coach David Fizdale. Hollinger had a unique journey to the basketball front office. He started out in the media business, working as an analyst for ESPN when he was hired by the franchise. Hollinger started his career in writing by founding the website Alleyoop in 1996. In the site's early days, he experimented with some of the advanced statistics that became his trademark. Hollinger also served as the sports editor at OregonLive.com. It was during this time that he came up with the Player Efficiency Rating, a statistic that is used by many in basketball today. Hollinger moved on to become the basketball editor at SI.com.
