About Joey Votto
Joey Votto was among the greatest hitters of his generation and among the best Canadian-born players ever. Votto spent his entire 17-year career with the Cincinnati Reds and was a six-time All-Star. He joined Hall of Famer Larry Walker as just the second Canadian player with over 2,000 hits, 300 home runs, and 1,000 career RBI.
Votto was originally a second-round selection in the 2002 MLB First Year Player Draft. After five seasons in the minor leagues, he made his MLB Debut in 2007 and quickly became one of the top players in the league.
During his first full season in Cincinnati, he hit .297 and launched 24 home runs en route to finishing as the runner-up in the 2008 NL Rookie of the Year voting. Two years later, he earned National League MVP honors after hitting .324 with 37 home runs, 113 RBI, and 106 runs batted in. Votto won a Gold Glove for his fielding at first base in 2011.
