About Joe Washington
Joe Washington played nine years in the National Football League with the San Diego Chargers, Baltimore Colts, Washington Redskins and Atlanta Falcons from 1976 to 1985 and helped the Redskins to a Super Bowl title in 1983. Prior to his NFL career he had a stellar college career at the University of Oklahoma in which he rushed for 4,071 career yards, became a two-time First-Team All-American and finished third in the 1974 and 1975 Heisman Trophy voting. His performance with the Sooners earned him a spot in the College Football Hall of Fame. After joining the Chargers as a first round pick in 1976 he rushed for 4,839 yards and 30 touchdowns while also posting 3,413 receiving yards and earning a Pro Bowl selection in 1979. For his decorated career with the Redskins he was recognized as one of the top 70 Greatest Redskins of all-time. After his retirement he joined Wells Fargo as a financial advisor and got into NASCAR, fielding a successful NASCAR Busch Series team from 1998 to 2000.
