About Joe Moorhead
Joe Moorhead is the head coach at Akron and he is considered one of the best offensive minds in college football. Prior to taking over the Zips, he was the two-year offensive coordinator at Oregon. Moorhead was also the head coach at Mississippi State for two seasons, leading the Bulldogs to a 14-12 overall record. Before taking the Bulldogs job, he was the offensive coordinator at Penn State for two years. Moorhead has prior head coaching experience, serving as the head coach at his alma mater, Fordham, for four years and guiding them to three FCS playoff appearances. He guided the Rams to a 38-13 record overall and won the Patriot League in 2014. Moorhead spent the previous eight seasons as a Division 1 assistant at Akron and Connecticut. He got his coaching start as a graduate assistant at Pittsburgh in 1998 before spending four years on the staff at Georgetown.
