About Joe Andruzzi
Joe Andruzzi is a New York native, born and raised in Brooklyn before joining the Southern Connecticut State University football team as an offensive lineman. During his junior and senior seasons he earned consecutive NCAA Division II All-American honors and served as his teams captain as a senior. In 1997 Andruzzi signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent and went on to play nine seasons in the NFL with the Packers, New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns. During his time with the Patriots he helped his team to three Super Bowl Championships in 2002, 2004 and 2005. In the 2002 season he was honored for his community service and dedication to leadership with the Ed Block Courage Award. He’d follow that up by winning the First Ron Burton Community Service Award in 2003. In 2007 Andruzzi was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Burkitt’s lymphoma, and has since founded the Joe Andruzzi Foundation in 2008 with the mission of providing financial assistance for cancer patients and their families while also funding pediatric brain cancer research.
