About Jim Rome
Known for his brash takes and unbridled enthusiasm, Jim Rome is a sports broadcasting icon. Rome originally started his sports talk radio show on XTRA Sports 690 in San Diego. In 1996, the show became nationally syndicated and can be heard on over 200 stations. Rome has had two stints as a TV host at ESPN. He was one of the first people hired at ESPN 2 in the early 1990s and made a return from 2003-2011 as the host of ESPN’s “Rome is Burning”. Rome currently hosts his own daily show on CBS Sports Network and has a more infrequent program that runs on Showtime. He has also hosted programs on Fox Sports Net and FX. His career originally started when he was in college at the University of California Santa Barbara. Recently, Rome has taken great interest in horse racing and has become an owner. His horse, Mizdirection, won the 2012 and 2013 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint.
