About Desmond Howard
Desmond Howard is one of the most popular sports personalities in all of football. From his days at the University of Michigan he has been a household name, bringing home the Heisman Trophy in 1991 and becoming a Wolverine legend. In 1992 he began his pro career with the Washington Redskins as a first round pick and continued his success on the field. For the next decade he was a top-notch wide receiver and return specialist, earning two All-Pro selections and a Pro Bowl appearance in 2000. In 1997 he was a key member of the Green Bay Packers Super Bowl championship team, and made history when he returned a kick 99-yards for a touchdown in Super Bowl XXXI. In 2002 he left the NFL with 10,854 total return yards and 17 total touchdowns to pursue a career in broadcasting. He got his start at ESPN as an expert football analyst immediately following his retirement and in 2005 he landed his current position as one of the four five analyst for ESPN College Gameday. In addition to his duties at ESPN he also serves as a color commentator for the Detroit Lions.
