About Jim Donnan
Jim Donnan is a former college football head coach at Marshall and Georgia. At Marshall, Donnan set the table for the Thundering Herd’s move to Division 1. During his six year run, Marshall made four trips to the Division 1-AA Championship and won a title in 1992. Donnan won two Division 1-AA Coach of the Year awards. He went from Marshall to Georgia, where he coached for five seasons. The Bulldogs went 40-19 under Donnan and he was the first UGA coach to win four consecutive bowl games. In 2009, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. Donnan was an analyst for ESPN upon leaving Georgia and currently commentates for the American Sports Network. He was originally a standout player at NC State, winning ACC Player of the Year honors in 1967. His coaching career also began with the Wolfpack. Donnan got a name in coaching by being Barry Switzer’s offensive coordinator at Oklahoma from 1985-89. He piloted the Sooners wishbone offense to three 11-1 seasons and the 1985 National Championship.
