Jim Caldwell

Jim Caldwell was one of the most respected coaches in football throughout his career. Caldwell was a three-time head coach, getting his first opportunity to lead a team on the college level at Wake Forest from 1993-2000. He was the first African-American coach in the history of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Caldwell had exclusively been on the college level to that point before taking a job as the quarterbacks coach with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2001. He moved on with Tony Dungy to Indianapolis in 2002, serving as an assistant coach for seven years and helping the Colts win Super Bowl XLI. When Dungy retired, Caldwell took over as head coach, leading the team to another Super Bowl in his first season.

After three seasons in Indy, Caldwell went on to serve as the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens. He got his second NFL head coaching shot in 2014 with the Detroit Lions and turned around the franchise. The team went 11-5 and made the playoffs in his first year. Overall, Detroit made two playoff trips and went 36-28 under Caldwell. That stood as the best winning percentage for the Lions coach since the 1950s. Caldwell took a season off after leaving Detroit and spent the 2019 season as the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach of the Miami Dolphins.
