About Jeff Malone
Jeff Malone was the 10th overall pick in the first round of the 1983 NBA Draft by the Washington Bullets out of Mississippi State University. During his career at Mississippi State he earned SEC Player of the Year and Third Team All-American honors in 1983 in route to becoming one of the best players in Bulldog history. Malone joined the Bullets in 1983 and played the first seven years of his NBA career in Washington. He went on to play four seasons with the Utah Jazz from 1990 to 1994 and two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers from 1994 to 1996 before retiring with the Miami Heat in 1996. During his career he averaged 19 points per game, was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in 1984 and earned All-Star honors twice in 1986 and 1987. After his retirement from the NBA he played one season abroad in Italy and then began his coaching career in the IBL in 2000. The following year he returned home as the new head coach of the Columbus Riverdragons in the NBA D-League. Coach Malone ended his career as the head coach of the Florida Flame in the NBA D-League, and is widely considered to be one of the most talented and dedicated basketball players and coaches of all-time.
