Jeff George

Jeffrey George, an Indiana native born in the late ‘60’s, is most famously remembered as a former National Football League quarterback. George has an extensive history in the NFL as he played professional football from 1990 to the early 2000’s, debuting with the Indianapolis Colts as the very first pick in the draft and concluding his career with the Oakland Raiders. After being a USA Today High School All-American and Gatorade High School Football Player of the Year, George played college football for the University of Illinois. At Illinois, he was a recipient of the Sammy Baugh Trophy and went on to become the first overall draft pick in the NFL following his collegiate career. Playing for a handful of teams the course of his thirteen-season career, George was known for his outstanding ability in obtaining copious amounts of passing yards. In fact, he even led the NFL in passing yards in 1997. Since retiring from the NFL, George has made several appearances on NFL Total Access. He has also had many columns written about him emphasizing a popular belief that he should not have retired from the NFL at the time that he did. These columns put a bug in George’s ear as he even considered returning to the NFL to replace quarterback Brett Favre for the Minnesota Vikings but never followed through.
