About Jack Lambert
Jack Lambert will forever go down in history as one of the best linebackers of his time. Born in Ohio in 1962, Lambert was destined for great things after playing college football at Kent State. He was ultimately selected in the second round of the 1974 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers and played the entirety of his decade long career with them. Lambert launched his professional career by earning the 1974 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award and went on to earn several other Defensive Player of the Year awards throughout the remainder of his career. Going on to become number 29 on the rankings of the NFL.com’s Top 100 Players of All-Time, Lambert also retired his jersey number 58 with the Steelers. He had an outstanding career total of 1,479 tackles with 1,045 of them solo. Aside from his athletic achievements, Lambert has been a longtime deputy wildlife officer volunteer, a coach for youth sports, and spent some time broadcasting as an NFL analyst. He continues to be remembered for his outstanding character and accomplishments on and off the field.
