Ian Kinsler

Ian Kinsler is a retired four-time All-Star second baseman. Kinsler began playing baseball at four years old when his father would toss him fly balls. Kinsler’s father continued to coach Kinsler through high school. When Kinsler was 13, he was the best player on a PONY league team. After high school, the Arizona Diamondbacks drafted Kinsler, but he did not feel ready to play in the pros. Kinsler attended Central Arizona College where he played baseball and was named secondteam All-ACCAC. The Diamondbacks drafted Kinsler again in 2001, but he stayed in college to develop more. The Texas Rangers drafted Kinsler in 2003, and this time he signed. He spent three seasons in the minor leagues before he became the starting second baseman for the Rangers in 2006. Kinsler remained with the Rangers until 2014 when he was traded to the Detroit Tigers. He went on to win Gold Gloves in 2016 and 2018. Kinsler also won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox after being traded there midway through the season in 2018. He finished his career with the San Diego Padres in 2019 and subsequently joined their front office.
