The Green Bay Packers Cheerleaders have a rich tradition that that dates back to 1931. Although the idea of cheerleaders did not really catch on until 1950, the team has evolved over the years and become a huge part of the Packers game day experience. Past names for the squad include the Packerettes, Golden Girls, and Sideliners. Since 1988 there has not been an official Green Bay Packers Cheerleader squad, however cheerleaders from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Norbert appear at home games throughout the season, representing the surrounding the community and cheering their team on throughout the game. Fans embrace the collegiate cheerleaders as their own, and it’s a great experience for the girls to be able to cheer in front of tens of thousands of fans at historic Lambeau Field.
