About George Gervin
George Gervin is retired professional shooting guard/ small forward who played in the ABA and NBA. Gervin attended Eastern Michigan University where he played basketball. After college, Gervin played for the Pontiac Chaparrals of the Eastern Basketball Association where he caught the eye of Johnny Kerr, a scout for the Virginia Squires of the ABA. Gervin spent two seasons with the Squires before he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1974. From 1978-1980, Gervin led the NBA in scoring average and he did it again in 1982. Gervin was traded to the Chicago Bulls in 1985. He also played for Banco Roma, Quad City Thunder and TDK Manresa. During his career, Gervin was a 9x NBA All-Star, 5x All-NBA First Team, 2x All-NBA Second Team, 4x NBA scoring champion, 3x ABA All-Star and 2x All-ABA Second Team. The Spurs have retired the number 44 in honor of Gervin.
