Geoff Bodine

Geoff Bodine is motorsport driver and bobsled builder. Bodine was racing his entire life since his father and grandfather built Chemung Speedway a year after he was born. It was at this speedway that Bodine learned his racing skills when he was five years old. When he was 15, Bodine disguised himself as a woman and entered a Powderpuff Division Race. Prior to becoming a NASCAR driver, Bodine had established himself as a well known Modified driver in the Northeast. Bodine had won many of the big races in Modifieds and he had earned many Modified championships. In 1978, Bodine had won more races than any other Modified racer in recorded history. Bodine is best known for his NASCAR Winston Cup career. As a rookie in 1982, Bodine earned the Rookie of the Year title. On February 18, 2000, Bodine was involved in a horrible fiery car crash at Daytona International Speedway. As a result, Bodine broke his right wrist, right cheekbone, right ankle, a vertebra in his back and he suffered a concussion. In October 2012, Bodine announced that he would be retiring from racing.
