About Gary Sheffield
Gary Sheffield is a retired professional outfielder and third baseman in MLB. Sheffield began playing baseball with his cousin who is 4 years older than he is. Sheffield played Little League baseball where he was a good hitter, but had temper and attitude problems, which followed him throughout life. At 11 years old, Sheffield was selected to the Belmont Heights Little League All-Stars. This team made it to the Little League World Series finals, but fell to Taiwan. Sheffield made the Hillsborough High School varsity baseball team in 1983. At the end of his senior season, Sheffield was named Gatorade National Player of the Year. The Milwaukee Brewers selected Sheffield as the sixth overall pick in the 1986 MLB Draft. He was called up to the Brewers on September 3, 1988. Sheffield also played for the San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, New York Yankees, Detroit Tigers and the New York Mets. He was a 9x All-Star, 5x Silver Slugger Award winner, World Series Champion, NL Batting champion and NL Comeback Player of the Year.
