About Frank Tanana
Frank Tanana had a big league career spanning over 20 years. He originally debuted with the California Angels in 1973 and made three straight All-Star teams from 1976-78. In 1975, Tanana led baseball in strikeouts and led the American League in ERA in 1977. He would go on to pitch for five other franchises. Most notably, he spent eight years with his hometown Detroit Tigers. Tanana retired after the 1993 season with a 240-236 record, 3.66 ERA and 2,773 strikeouts. During his career, he became a Christian leader in professional baseball. He currently is on the Pro Athletes Outreach Board of Directors and works with the Home Plate and Career Impact ministries. He is a member of the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame and the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame.
