Erik Ainge

In 2003, Erik Ainge was named Oregon's Gatorade Player of the Year for football as a senior in high school. Upon graduation, Ainge accepted a scholarship to play quarterback for the University of Tennessee where he immediately became the starter and by the end of the season his 17 TDs had broken Peyton Manning's school record for TDs thrown by a freshman. After a freshman season that earned him SEC Offensive Freshman of the Year, Ainge's next few seasons were limited to with injuries midway through each his sophomore and junior years. Ainge had a standout year as a senior, completing 62.6% of his passes for 3,522 yards. By the end of his Tennessee career, Ainge finished 3rd all-time on the school's career passing yards list and still holds an SEC record with 7 TD passes in a single game. Ainge had a short career in the NFL due to injuries and in 2011 he announced that he had struggled with drug abuse from the time he was 12 years old, being addicted to pain killers beginning in his days at Tennessee. He is currently a successful media personality back in Knoxville.
