About Enzo Maresca
Enzo Maresca is an Italian professional football manager and former midfielder, currently managing Chelsea in the Premier League. His playing career spanned nearly two decades, starting at AC Milan's youth academy at 11 before moving to Cagliari. He debuted professionally with West Bromwich Albion in 1998, then joined Juventus in 2000, winning the Serie A title in 2002. Loaned to Bologna and Piacenza, he later played for Fiorentina, Sevilla, Olympiacos, Málaga, Sampdoria, Palermo, and Hellas Verona, retiring in 2017. At Sevilla, he won two UEFA Cups (2006 and 2007) and a UEFA Super Cup, earning man-of-the-match honors in the 2006 UEFA Cup final.
Maresca’s managerial career began as an assistant at Ascoli (2017–18). He led Manchester City’s U23 team to the 2020–21 Premier League 2 title, then managed Parma briefly in 2021. Returning to Manchester City as Pep Guardiola’s assistant, he contributed to their 2023 treble. In 2023–24, he guided Leicester City to the EFL Championship title, securing Premier League promotion. Appointed Chelsea’s head coach in June 2024 on a five-year contract, Maresca led them to the 2024–25 UEFA Conference League title, defeating Real Betis 4–1, and secured fourth place in the Premier League, earning Champions League qualification.
