About Don Kelly
Don Kelly is a former Major League Baseball utility player and the current manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates. A Pittsburgh-area native, he played college baseball at Point Park University, where he was a NAIA All-American. Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 8th round in 2001, he debuted in MLB with the Pirates in 2007. Kelly became a beloved cult hero with the Tigers (2009–2014) as a versatile utility man who played every position. He later played for the Miami Marlins (2015–2016). After retiring, he coached with the Astros and served as the Pirates' bench coach before being named manager in May 2025.
