Derek Watt

Derek James Watt entered the world on November 7, 1992, in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, and became a retired NFL fullback who gained fame through his physical strength and his ability to play multiple positions while leading with selflessness. The middle child of the Watt family between J.J. and T.J. established his own football career at the University of Wisconsin through his powerful blocking skills and multi-purpose offensive contributions.

The San Diego Chargers selected Watt during the sixth round of the 2016 NFL Draft and he started his rookie season by becoming one of the top blocking fullbacks in the league. Watt played four seasons with the Los Angeles team before signing a three-year, $9.75 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers in March 2020 to join forces with his brother T.J. Watt.

During his seven-year NFL career Watt played in 110 games while providing 249 scrimmage yards and three touchdowns and numerous crucial blocks and special teams contributions. The team-oriented player Derek Watt consistently chose team success above individual statistical achievements.

Derek Watt dedicates his time to his family life with his wife Gabriella and their three children Logan and Brayden and their newborn baby from April 2024. After his retirement in March 2024 he dedicated himself to family life and started exploring opportunities in broadcasting as well as coaching and entrepreneurship.
