About Dave Martinez
Dave Martinez served as the manager of the Washington Nationals from 2018-2025. Martinez had immediate success winning the World Series with the Nationals in 2019.
Before being named to the position, Martinez had been considered one of baseball's top managerial candidates for years. He spent time on Joe Maddon's staffs with the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs. In Martinez's first season with the Rays, the team made it to the World Series. He won his first ring as a coach in 2016 with the Cubs.
As a player, Martinez spent 15 major league seasons with nine different teams. He collected over 1,500 hits and batted .276 over the course of his career. He is best known for recording the first hit in Tampa Bay franchise history in 1998.
