About Dave Casper
Dave Casper was born and raised in Bemidji, Minnesota and attended Notre Dame University on a football scholarship. During his time with the Fighting Irish he earned All-American honors as an offensive tackle in 1972 before making the transition to tight end in 1973 and leading his team to an NCAA National Championship. Upon earning his masters degree in economics in 1974 he joined the Oakland Raiders as a second round draft pick. From 1974 to 1984 he starred as a tight end with the Raiders, Houston Oilers and Minnesota Vikings, tallying 378 receptions for 5,216 yards and 52 touchdowns in route to earning five Pro Bowl and NFL All-Pro selections. Casper was a member of the Raiders Super Bowl championship team in 1977 and went on to earn a spot on the NFL 1970’s AllDecade Team. After his retirement he was inducted into both the College Football Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame, and is considered to be one of the greatest tight ends of all-time.
