About Darrell Hazell
As a high school student, Darrell Hazell was unsure of what he wanted to do with is life, let alone where to attend college. At a career fair he caught the attention of a small D3 college in Ohio called Muskingum College, and Hazell was hooked. He played football and ran track at Muskingum, setting career records on the gridiron at the receiver position. Following his playing days, Hazell realized that he didnt want to leave the sport, so he began to coach. Starting as the RBs coach at Oberlin College, Hazell moved to several different colleges in universities as an assistant coach from 1986-2010, serving mainly as a positional coach until he joined Ohio State University in 2005 where he was promoted to assistant head coach. From OSU, Hazell accepted the head coaching position at Kent State University in 2011 and he quickly turned the program around, leading them to the MAC Championship game and a bowl appearance in just his second year. After a 16-10 record at KSU, Hazell accepted the head coaching position at Purdue University. He is currently the wide receivers coach for the Minnesota Vikings.
