Dan Morgan Biography

Dan Morgan is a former NFL linebacker who spent seven seasons in the league with two different teams. Prior to his time in the NFL, Morgan played four seasons as a member of the University of Miami Hurricanes. In his four seasons at UM, Morgan was a multiple time finalist for top linebacker awards, including the Dick Butkus award, the Bronko Nagurski award, and the Chuck Bednarik award. In his senior season, Morgan solidified himself as the top collegiate linebacker in the country, winning all three awards along with Big East Defensive Player of the year and an All American nod. Following his graduation, Morgan entered the 2001 NFL Draft where he was selected in the first round by the Carolina Panthers. In his first season, Morgan was voted to the PFW All-Rookie team after starting 11 games, recording 75 tackles, one sack, one interception, and one fumble recovery. In 2003, Morgan helped the Panthers win the NFC Championship, and he was voted to his first and only Pro Bowl in 2004. Morgan retired in 2008 due to lingering injuries, finishing his career with 390 tackles and seven sacks. He went into the front office following retirement and currently serves as the Director of Player Personnel for the Buffalo Bills. Morgan was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame in 2011.
