Crawford Ker

Crawford Ker is a notable professional football player from the late 1980’s and early ‘90’s. He played the majority of his career as a guard for the Dallas Cowboys, but also spent a season with the Denver Broncos and the Detroit Lions. Ker was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1962 and moved to Florida at a young age with his family, where he understood the definition of hard work while helping his father work two or three jobs to help support the family through high school. Ker did not take up the sport of football until his junior year in high school, when he decided he wanted to go professional and worked out hard enough to leave high school 55 pounds heavier and stronger than he started. Ker played football for Arizona Western College by calling the coach himself and later was recognized by the University of Florida to play as a Gator. Entering the NHL in the third round of the 1985 Draft, Ker played his first five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and was even named Dallas Cowboy Weekly Team of the Decade. He continued to play in the NHL until 1992, and after retirement, Ker became the founder and chief executive of a chain of restaurants and sports bars in Florida, known as Ker’s WingHouse Bar & Grill.
