About Courtney Upshaw
Courtney Upshaw first made his mark in football as a highly-touted in-state recruit headed to the University of Alabama. Upshaw was an immediate contributor as a freshman and won the BCS National Championship his sophomore year after making a game-sealing fumble recovery against Texas. Over his final two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Upshaw recorded 16.5 sacks. As a senior, he was a first-team All-American, first-team All-SEC pick and won his second national championship. In his final game, Upshaw had seven tackles, one sack and one tackle for loss on the way to being named Defensive MVP in the title game win against LSU. He was subsequently selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft and won a Super Bowl in his rookie season. After four years in Baltimore, Upshaw spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets. During the 2020 season, he served as a volunteer assistant coach at UAB.
