About Cliff Avril
After spending half of his college career at linebacker, Cliff Avril was moved to defensive end where he really found his niche. Starting 35 career games for Purdue University, Avril compiled 35.5 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. In 2008, Avril was drafted in the third round by the Detroit Lions. Avril began contributing right away in 2008, recording 23 tackles and 5 sacks. By 2011, Avril was putting together what many considered to be a Pro Bowl worthy season with team leading 6 forced fumbles and 11 sacks. In 2012, the Lions placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Avril and in 2013 he signed a contract worth $13 Million with the Seattle Seahawks. In his first season with the Seahawks, Avril helped bring them to Super Bowl XLVIII where he set a Super Bowl record by scoring just 13 seconds into the game with a safety on Broncos QB Peyton Manning.
